We’re so excited to announce that Inc. has honored LeagueApps as one of their 2022 Best Workplaces!

With this achievement, we’ll be joining a list of businesses and organizations across the country that are recognized for their commitment to stellar culture and employee well-being, and setting the standard for workplace success.

Anyone who works at LeagueApps. works with LeagueApps, or has a loved one who works at LeagueApps knows that these standards for excellence are not something we take lightly. We’re committed to the happiness, well-being, and success of each member of the LeagueApps team every day, and that can be seen in so many ways.

What Is the Inc. Best Workplaces Award?

To be named an Inc. Best Workplace in 2022 means your “company culture is thriving in the face of adversity.” Despite the pandemic, companies on this list have persevered to foster employee growth, advancement, and an environment all members of the team are proud of and love to work in. Notable companies that made the 2021 list include Asana, Bev, Brooklinen, Frame.io, Greenhouse Software, Handshake, and Loom.

Why the LeagueApps Culture Stands Out

Culture begins at the top of an organization, according to Neal Shenoy, CEO of Begin and an investor who has helped many companies grow and scale. For small organizations like LeagueApps, it’s essential that the people leading the team to success believe in and set the precedent for company culture for it to be present in the company.

Nowhere is top-down culture more present than at LeagueApps. Our fearless leaders—Brian Litvack, CEO and co-founder, and Jeremy Goldberg, president—build the LeagueApps culture by enthusiastically participating in all company events, connecting with team members frequently about both work and personal life, leading bi-monthly roundtable dinners, and most importantly, addressing pressing issues in the world today that align with our mission—bringing amazing sports experiences to kids in all communities.

“Sports is all about sportsmanship, results, and team, which are qualities the LeagueApps team passionately values,” says Brian. “I am honored to work alongside this inspiring group of teammates who dedicate their lives to our mission of positively affecting thousands of communities and millions of kids every year. Most importantly, we are a team that supports each other and has fun while we’re doing it.”

FundPlay—LeagueApps’ nonprofit arm that supports sports-based youth development organizations through technology grants and community—is perhaps one of the best examples of our core beliefs’ presence in the work we do every day.

To hold the rest of the team accountable for maintaining our company values, each week at our All Hands meeting we dole out shoutouts and awards for contributing to the company in a value-aligned way. Our values—which spell out the acronym SPORTSDOG—are ever-present in everything we do, and it’s crucial that everyone who joins the LeagueApps team embodies these values in some way.

These shout-outs are constantly present at LeagueApps, whether they’re given formally on All Hands, informally via Slack, or once annually by company-wide vote during our SPORTSDOG awards ceremony. For example, Annie Gavett was recently awarded for the glaring passion she brings to work every day and Bharat Chopra for his sportsmanlike behavior.

OTAs: The Bi-Annual Offsite

Perhaps the majority of the LeagueApps’ team’s favorite part of working at LeagueApps is our biannual OTAs, or Organized Team Activities (named after the NFL’s term). Once in the winter and once in the fall, the entire team (no matter where they’re located) gathers both in-person and virtually for a series of workshops, panels, physical activities, happy hours, and more. Two years ago, the team gathered on Fire Island for the 16th company OTA.

At our most recent in-person OTAs in 2021, the team gathered at Bryn Athyn College in Philadelphia for two days of Olympics, talent shows, and exercises to broaden our knowledge of LeagueApps. Individual teams also hold their own OTAs as well to strengthen their team bonds and focus on what’s going on in their individual industries. This kind of activity is especially important in the hybrid world we live in today.

Working at LeagueApps

Beyond what goes on within the walls of work, what also makes LeagueApps a “best workplace” is the gatherings and activities after the workday is over.  Team members are constantly gathering for both in-person and virtual activities to spend more time with their teammates and get to know each other outside of a work setting, for happy hours, movie nights, book clubs, cooking competitions, philanthropy activities (such as Cycle for Survival), ax throwing, bowling, biking, running, or playing on the LeagueApps basketball and soccer teams.
