Let’s Kick This Charity Soccer Cup is a one day tournament designed to raise awareness and charitable donations for Voices Against Brain Cancer. This year’s event took place over the weekend on Saturday, August 19th.

The event was founded and is still organized by Hayden Goldblatt. LeagueApps was happy to be a sponsor for the event, but we were even more thrilled to field a team to help our partner throw a terrific charity soccer tournament. The event first started back in 2013.

“After five years of organizing this tournament, it’s incredible to see the devotion of the players and sponsors to both the event and Voices Against Brain Cancer, the cause that we are supporting,” Hayden said.

Voices Against Brain Cancer’s mission is to find a cure for brain cancer by advancing scientific research, increasing awareness within the medical community and supporting patients, their families and caregivers afflicted with this devastating disease.

“There are multiple teams and sponsors that we met while organizing the very first year’s tourney that have remained committed year after year and have now become close friends.  Saturday truly was a special day.”

Tarek Pertew is the co-founder and CCO of Uncubed, as well as founder and owner of NYC Footy. NYC Footy has been a LeagueApps partner for over three years.

“Soccer is a big part of my life,” he said. “We’ve supported Let’s Kick This over the years- we donated the goals, balls and music. I was impressed with the turnout, to be honest. It was a great group of folks as well.”

Certainly there are plenty of benefits in participating in tournaments like these for our partners. We were happy to donate to a good cause, but also we were able to learn more about what goes in to making a great tournament experience. It also gave us another opportunity to use the LeagueApps platform and travel our partners’ customer journey.

Plus, we’re always looking for another excuse to hang out with our partners. “It was great to connect with Tarek on a deeper level after meeting at OTAs,” Business Development Senior Associate David Robinson said.

Tarek added that he also saw the benefit in participating in the tournament.

“We are working on our own Thanksgiving Charity Tournament to support Street Child United, so participating in tournaments like this helps us understand the value we need to create for the players and the expectations of what we can raise for the charity as well.”

“League Apps is an incredible resource for organizing a sports tournament,” Hayden said. ” It organizes and tracks all of the information that we need and serves it up to us in an easy to use manner. The company’s personnel are super helpful and responsive. It enables us to focus on other issues and keep the paperwork to a minimum.”

Though the LeagueApps team didn’t take first place (or second or third), we were thrilled to play a small role in Hayden and the Let’s Kick This mission over the weekend.
