LeagueApps Teams Up with the LA Dodgers to Host Baseball Appreciation Event For Local Organizers

Company News, Dugout, Sports Community, Value of LeagueApps

On October 3rd LeagueApps teamed up with the Los Angeles Dodgers to host a special appreciation event for local Baseball organizers at Dodgers Stadium. Over 60 organizers, representing more than 30 different local baseball organizations, attended the event that included a group meeting, networking session and complimentary tickets to watch the Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres. Attendees included LeagueApps partners Palm Springs Power and Pregame Sports.

LeagueApps President Jeremy Goldberg leads a discussion on issues facing youth baseball organizers.

LeagueApps has partnered with the Dodgers with the joint goal to make a larger impact within local sports communities. This event’s purpose is to show appreciation for all of the work and effort that goes into organizing youth baseball in the Los Angeles area. All different types of baseball organizations were represented including rec league’s, travel teams, tournaments, and academies. It was rewarding for the LeagueApps team to see that everyone shared such great passion and a desire to create great experience for kids on the field.

This event allowed LeagueApps to better understand how we can further our mission to provide a valuable partnership to every local youth sports program. It allowed the Dodgers to further connect with local sports organizers in the area.

LeagueApps also led networking sessions during the game Saturday night in order to allow organizations to get together and share challenges, best practices, and connect with each other to build new relationships. The opportunity to connect organizations together is another small way to provide value to our partners.

Most organizations recognize the need to leverage technology to save the hundreds of hours that go into the administration of baseball programs. Some of the other themes and issues that were discussed in these sessions included:

  • The need to use multiple platforms and tools to manage the different parts of the administrative process
  • Field space availability and allocation within Southern California
  • Too much time on paper-work; specifically registration and payment collection
  • Managing and attracting staff, coaches and volunteers
  • Access to qualified coaching
  • Relationships with demanding parents

One of the most rewarding parts of the night was to hear how passionate all of the organizations are about creating a great baseball experiences. We recognize that many people volunteer their time to give back to their program. Often, it can feel like a full-time job. LeagueApps goal is to take away the headaches and challenges and allow organizers to focus on the field instead of off the field.

With all that said, we had one heck of a fun time hanging out with organizers, learning about their organizations, eating Dodgers dogs and watching the Dodgers win a ballgame! We even got to hang out with Tommy Lasorda.

Our biggest takeaway is that there’s a need to build a forum for youth baseball organizers to get together and talk-shop. We were able to help facilitate a lot of great introductions to help the SoCal Baseball community connect and work together in a hopefully meaningful way to share their best practices and resources.
