LeagueApps Design and Theme Options

Feature Highlight, Product News

Our trademark slogan here at LeagueApps is “Have It Your Way”. Actually, we just pulled a Ricky Henderson and swiped that from the good folks at Burger King. But the slogan does ring true for us and most certainly extends to website design and theming. With LeagueApps, we strive to ensure that a league partner can fully control the look and feel of their website.

Here are some of the different design options.

LeagueApps Theme Editor – Basic

The basic LeagueApps theme editor enables an admin to control the colors, fonts and images (header, background, logo image) of a LeagueApps website without requiring any design or coding skills. A live preview feature updates the design settings in real time. Within minutes, and with just a few clicks, any league can have a slick website that accurately portrays their league brand.

Rockville Athletics, Denver Pirate Network and Sacramento Sport & Social Club all used the basic design editor to create their website.

Check out the detailed theme editor article on the LeagueApps Help Site.

LeagueApps Theme Editor – Advanced

The LeagueApps theme editor also allows designers or front-end developers to access the CSS code to fully edit the basic theme template and create an entirely new design and style. This can ensure that a site is unique and can be almost completely customized for your specific league needs.

Kansas City Sports League and Coed Sports Arizona have customized their website design with the theme editor.

Check out the detailed advanced design article on the LeagueApps Help Site.

Web Page Design

In the LeagueApps console it is possible to add custom HTML, links, text or content to your website using the simple HTML/WYSIWYG editor. Customizable pages include the homepage, waiver form, league details page, and all new content pages. Designing content pages further customizes the look and feel of your website.

The LeagueApps Design Team

The LeagueApps design team will work with a league partner to help create a unique or customizable website theme. Hit us up, ask nicely, and you just might get lucky. At the very least, we’ll share more information on the different design packages available.

LeagueApps Preferred Designers

LeagueApps has developed relationships with professional freelance designers who are experienced with the LeagueApps platform and have previously developed sports league websites on the platform. Although unaffiliated directly with LeagueApps, our goal is to only recommend professional, talented and affordable designers.

Definitely more to come in the future in regard to theme and design. If you have any feedback or suggestions do make sure to let us know.

Import your Existing Member Database To LeagueApps (for Free!)

Feature Highlight, Product News, Value of LeagueApps

Ever wonder how to get your existing list of 1,000+ members AND their email addresses into your LeagueApps account? We’ve got you covered- The LeagueApps team has a member import service that will do it for you!

Often, established organizations that are switching to a new league management platform get bogged down with the task of inputting all of their member information. Another common hurdle leagues face is getting all of their members to create personal accounts on their own. Let’s face it- not every member is responsive, and some people might need that extra push to get started.

The LeagueApps team can help by importing your entire member database in such a way that all members will get new accounts automatically created. LeagueApps will then automatically email your members their new account information so that they can log-in and not waste any time signing up for programs. It’s one less step for you to worry about when setting up your account.

All you have to do is send us a spreadsheet with the following fields for your members:

Required Fields:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Email Address

Additionally, you can also provide your own custom fields that you’d like to be imported into your members’ profiles (i.e. phone number, shirt size etc.).

If this is something you’d like to do, please get in touch at support@leagueapps.com.

In addition to importing your database, we will gladly help with any aspects of your LeagueApps account setup. Our team offers free 20-min sales demos, as well as personalized training sessions where we’ll log-in to your account and help launch your site in real time.

Drop us a line if you’re interested in any of these services!

Use Form Fields to Collect Player Information!

Feature Highlight, Product News, Value of LeagueApps

LeagueApps Form Fields allow you to easily determine what information you’d like to collect from your members and players when they register. You can customize the following field types on your LeagueApps site:

  • member profile fields
  • registration form fields

Member Profile Fields

These fields comprise your Membership form – each of your members will fill out this form when creating a LeagueApps account. Many league partners add form fields that ask to give standard background information (i.e. Age, Occupation), which can give league organizers a better picture of their player demographic. Other fields can be used by organizers to help gauge interest in certain activities, as well as plan for future leagues and events. Another popular field to include is t-shirt size; leagues often like to keep a record of each member’s shirt size in case this information is missed when players register for a specific league.

Below is an example of a membership form:

Registration Form Fields

These fields make up the online registration form that each of your players fill out to join a program. Typically, the registration form has fields that collect information specific to league play, such as skill level or position.

Below is an example of a registration form:

These are just some ideas for form fields you can create with LeagueApps. You can quickly edit your default form fields under Settings in your admin console.

Be sure to read our Help Docs for tips on how to customize member profiles and registration forms.

Content Pages on LeagueApps!

Feature Highlight, Product News, Value of LeagueApps

LeagueApps Website Content Management System tools makes it easy to quickly create web pages without any development necessary. Many league partners will use this feature to create web pages that share information or content on their website. This includes the standard About Us page, or a Rules page that lists the rules and formats of all the sport offerings. A Contact Us page is also popular.

Below are examples of a few league partners that have used the content management tool to create unique content pages that enhance their website:

  • Marist Intramurals created a photo page, with photos taken from each league. This is a great way to document each season.

  • Rockville Athletics Sports League has a page dedicated to jerseys and uniforms. The page lists all the offerings available to players, as well as the vendor contact information.

  • All City Athletics compiled a bunch of instructional videos on one page. This can be a nice guide for players who want to improve their skills.

These are just a few examples of the types of custom pages you can create with LeagueApps. Be sure to read our Help Doc for tips on how to create content pages.

A Small End-of-Summer Release

Product News, Release Notes

We pushed out a quick release this week. Here are some hot items that were addressed:

Privacy Settings

We took a step forward to improve privacy on LeagueApps! We tweaked the member information that appears on public-facing sites. Now only the first names of site members are shown on any public site pages (unless, of course, the user is logged in). This will prevent your members’ full names from getting indexed on Google.

We are constantly thinking of ways to further improve privacy. Please share any thoughts and ideas you have.

A Few Administrative Features

  • Admins can now control their widget background color (under “Colors” tab in Theme Editor).
  • Updated programs drop down list on Member Details page to include season and start date for each program.
  • Admins can now decide to include/exclude games of type “Playoff” and “Championship” in standings calculations (Settings > Standings).
  • Added new program registration status option for Accepting Team Captains Only.
  • Program deletion button added to program dashboard.

That’s it for now. As always, feel free to send any feedback our way!
